Strix (pl. striges or strixes) was the Ancient Roman and Greek word for owl. In folklore it was considered a bird of ill omen that fed on human flesh and blood, a product of metamorphosis. The name is Greek in origin and means "owl" (the name of the genus Strix follows this meaning).

The contrasted lighting really helps to make the features pop out in just the right way. This effectively gives a solid sense of depth, volume, and proportion, which is kind of necessary in a scene where the background is a space-scape, since there is little/no opportunity to place other objects to give the necessary sense of scale or proportion.
Beyond that, I like the design!
It's much more balanced and realistic than many spacecraft designs, while still holding a very unique and appealing appearance. Well done
